SHARK CAGE DIVING

FALSE BAY SHARK CAGE DIVING
Great White Shark Cage Diving in False bay is different from Gansbaai. Predatory actions such as breachings are far more common here than in Gansbaai.
05h45 Pick up from your accommodation (optional extra)
06h45 You are welcomed aboard the boat and given a briefing for the day’s events. The boat
we use is a 36tf GE CAT powered by two 250hp motors and the boat has a separate
change room and toilet as well as a fresh water shower and viewing deck.
07h35 Arrive at Seal Island after which a description of the history of the sight is given and prevailing environmental & meteorological conditions are recorded and what to expect in the next few hours.
08h00 - 13h00 During the course of the morning (07h30-09h00) our observations are based around shark/seal interaction or predation behaviour which has made Seal Island famous.
This is when you have the greatest chance of seeing Great White Shark breachings!
Later in the morning (09h00-13h00), a single piece of tuna is attached to the bait line and placed in the ocean along with a decoy cut-out of a seal to lure the shark to the boat. The cage is lowered into the water. The divers then climb into the cage which can take up to three divers.
Every precaution is taken not to injure the shark or to give the animal the bait for consumption. At noon a light lunch is served, however, snacks and refreshments are provided through the course of the day.
13h00 - 13h30 Return to Simonstown Harbour depending on the weather conditions and shark activity. And dropped off at your accommodation (optional extra).
We also offer free diving with Mako Sharks and Blue Sharks from October to March. This is done 30 nautical miles off Cape Point.

GANSBAAI SHARK CAGE DIVING:

09h00 Start chumming.
10h30 White shark observation and cage diving. The time for the first shark to appear however cannot be forecasted, and varies from a few minutes to several hours. When a shark is spotted, the crew monitors its behavior. If the shark relaxes, then the cage and divers can be lowered into the water. Shark and weather conditions depending, our aim is to give our guests the best possible viewing experience from both the boat and underwater from the cage. Snacks and drinks can be enjoyed on the boat throughout the whole trip.
13h00 Return to Gansbaai harbor. Return to crew house for lunch and to watch the DVD of the trip. Drop off in Cape Town (optional extra).
